Horizon
Welcome to open source Argos / Kineis development
I want to order a Developer’s Kit / Horizon hardware

Develop your own unique tracking solutions
Horizon is an open source plug-and-play solution for engineers, developers or students who want to develop their own custom telemetry solutions.
Co-developed together with the Zoological Society of London, Horizon was used by the National Geographic Society to track plastic waste leaving the Gange’s delta as part of their Sea to Source Expedition.
The Horizon Developer Kit includes GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, a 9-Axis Accelerometer, 3G Cellular and an Argos ARTIC R2 transmitter to get you up and running quickly, compatible with next generation ARGOS-4 satellites and the future Kineis constellation of nanosatellites.

Message in a bottle: tracking plastic across oceans
Have you ever wondered where plastic drink bottles, food containers and everyday plastic items end up once they enter waterways?.
A special bottle cavity was designed to house an Arribada Horizon Developer’s Kit, utilising both the cellular and Argos satellite module to track plastic water bottles throughout the Ganges River system in India and Bangladesh. Whenever mobile phone networks were available (i.e urban areas), each bottle would transmit its GPS location until they reached the open ocean and mobile phone reception was lost, at which point the Argos satellite transmitter would take over and transmit the bottleās location every three hours.
One bottle travelled over 2845km

Plug-and-play out of the box
We’ve interfaced our Horizon GPS board with our new Argos ARTIC R2 transmitter to get you up and running quickly, compatible with next generation ARGOS-4 satellites and the future Kineis constellation of nanosatellites.
Developer friendly
Configure and modify settings using our straight forward Python tools over USB, or use the built-in Bluetooth 5.0 to communicate with the tag wirelessly.
Integrate into your custom solution
After evaluating, connect the Argos ARTIC transmitter to your own custom device / solution and integrate with your own hardware and microcontroller without having to re-spin the board.

We’re all in this together
