Surfaced
Journey with us into the world of open source sea turtle telemetry, with Arribada’s Surfaced quarterly newsletter.
Using open source solutions, for the first time, fishers and conservation teams will be able to identify in near real time, where and when fishing activity overlaps with critical sea turtle habitats at low cost, enabling targeted, locally led actions to reduce bycatch while offering a scalable model for small-scale fisheries in data-poor coastal systems.
(Above) The Cayman Islands Department of Environment are experimenting with open source Scute tags as a means to scaling up their understanding of the movement of both resident and migratory adult and juvenile turtles.
