The Arribada Argos SMD module is an open source, compact, high-performance PCB designed to facilitate satellite uplink via the Kinéis and Argos satellite constellations. With 15 minute revisits and global coverage, the Arribada SMD is one of the most cost effective satellite IoT transmitters available on the market today to unlock access to satellite IoT connectivity across a wide range of applications.

Add an SMD Wing to seamlessly connect Feather boards such as the Adafruit nRF52480 Feather series to the Argos SMD module for streamlined testing and integration, or start with a Complete Kit for a plug-and-play experience straight out of the box, designed for seamless integration with Feather board to enable rapid prototyping. Additionally, with its small footprint and versatile integration options the SMD module can stand alone or act as a co-processor for designs requiring satellite connectivity. Built on the STM32WL55 processor and equipped with the GR5504 power amplifier, the module delivers up to 26 dBm transmission power and is pre-certified* by CLS, ensuring immediate deployment readiness.

Units in stock are shipped within 1 – 3 days internationally. We use UPS as our courier service.

The lead time to manufacture new boards is 4 – 6 weeks when out of stock.

The product is manufactured by the Arribada Initiative C.I.C, a UK Community Interest Company that is VAT registered, so UK VAT is added if you purchase within the UK. Example Arduino code for the SMD Wings & Feather Board

This Github repository contains sample Arduino code for testing the Argos SMD module mounted on the Argos SMD Wings using a Feather board. Two distinct code bases are provided:

  • argos-smd-certfication-sample: Test code based on BLE and UART AT commands manager.
  • argos-smd-spi-wrapper: Test code based on Serial and SPI commands manager.

Both examples demonstrate key functionalities such as configuration, communication, and power management for the Argos SMD module.
